Reggie is a mature (about 11) gelding; I got him as a packing prospect (he was still a stud at that time.) I don't have a lot of history on him, and no papers. I got him from a very nice lady whose husband got him for her as a packing prospect; she decided (very logically) that at his age, he was going to take too much work before he was ready to go to work. She said that before they got him he spent the last two years tied out on a chain with a collar, eating weeds; before that, he was said to have been used at stud. He has a placid demeanor and a kind eye, as long as nobody is messing with him; he can be a little defensive, but doesn't seem aggressive at all. He can be haltered by a tall person who doesn't mind wrestling; once the halter is on, he is slightly sulky, but not very reactive. Being a short person who prefers cooperation, I'm trying to take the time that it takes to change his mind. He's not bothered much by stuff happening, unless it involves humans in his face. He has come a long ways; he used to get pretty hysterical when approached with a rope, and his nose would go straight up in the air when a body got within a couple of feet of him. I would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions. I am very close to being able to get a rope looped over his nose without his being upset; I think at that point the halter will be fairly easy. I do some clicker work with him, but he has spells when he just won't take a treat from my hand,
