Hi everyone, I just read from a shearer that if alpacas are fasting for up to 36 hours (no food and no water) that it will be easier on the animals, healthier and not as stressful. Many people believe that this is not possible for their animals. I know for humans that fasting is something we all should consider every now and then, that many health issues can improve or even disappear and that it raises someone's energy level tremendously. But what do you all think about fasting for alpacas before shearing. Pregnant, nursing and crias would only fast for up to 12 hours, the shearer says.
I am really looking forward to your answers especially Marty, Vets and experts!
