Sedation without a shot

    Is there a way to lightly sedate an alpaca that does not involve a vet or a needle?
    I have a very high stress alpaca (Orion) that I think would benefit from from being gently handled while he is feeling calm.
    (He is high stress all of the time, regardless of the presence of humans)
