I have now owned my 3 gelded alpacas for over a year and a half. Since that time, I have really come to appreciate the herd mentality/dynamic in these boys. Now, I really enjoy taking all three on van rides and excursions to Alpaca Therapy, the park, or the beach. I have recruited some very incredible women to assist me in loading/leading these boys.

This video was created as a training video to start teaching my Team to halter the boys. There will be times when I plan to be gone for more than just a few days and I really want my boys to be taken on neighborhood or forest walks in my absence. So, now is the time for my Team to advance to the next level instead of just having me halter the three prior to our outing.

I will use a dummy alpaca to train my team on the catch rope first, although only Remi seems to be the one needing the catch rope. Remi has become so routine that he always walks toward the gate and knows what is going to happen. The other two seem to very easily be haltered while they are in the middle of eating from their treat feeder, all occurring in our 10 foot training pen.
