After having my llamas’ toenails done by people who used not-so-gentle methods for several years have created behavioral challenges for me now. It would be wonderful to be able to do them myself. There doesn’t seem to be anyone in my area who is trained in this method so I’m doing it alone. For the past few months I have been working with their legs and feet practicing lifting the leg and giving it back. This part is going well with one of my llamas. However, when I actually have the foot, supporting it with my left hand and grabbing the nippers my llama leans his whole body into me. I don’t seem to be able to tell that he really wasn’t balanced. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
