During the June shearing clinic this year, Linda B. showed us all an incredibly slick way to pick up a front leg in order to trim them. Rather than bending the leg at the knee, she actually stood in front of the alpaca and supported the leg fully extended! I love this idea and want to incorporate the technique into my colander. My question is, how young can you start touching/lifting legs? I have one 3 week old cria that I am having to bottle feed - I am doing my best not to imprint on her and am comfortable so far because she has most-assuredly bonded with her mom. Seems like such a great opportunity...is it too early?

P.S. Thanks to Marty for the great picture!
