I have a cria that was born yesterday afternoon. I wasn't present at the birth so I was not able to get a towel under him and I think he may have gotten some sand in his right eye. It wasn't as open as his left eye and this morning there was more sand around that eye. I tried to gently wipe that away. This afternoon I just checked on him and the eye seems a bit weepy (fleece under his eye looks stained). There seems to be a bit of a blueish haze on one part as well. I had a similar situation with my horse and the vet needed to flush it and then I applied antibiotic ointment. Thinking I may have to have the vet out here tomorrow to take a look. But any suggestions of what I might try in the meantime? I don't want it to get infected.
