My 5 month old cria has had eye irritation (redness and white discharge) on and off almost since birth. Our vet has seen her a number of times and we have used a number of ointments (steroid & non-steroidal) as well as antibiotic and anti-inflamatory injections to try to correct the situation. It keeps returning and my vet is leaning toward the belief that it is an allergy of some sort. She would like to be able to use an antihistamine but is not familiar enough with how a alpaca's system would react. Does anyone have any experience with their use in camelids?
