My alpacas often "gum" catch pen bars, the wire fencing, etc. I am wondering if this is a pleasurable sensation (I have been told that camelids like their upper gum area massaged) or if it is an indication of missing a supplement. Or is it like human infants that learn about their world through exploration with their mouth?
