Howdy! I am contemplating getting back to psychotherapy work with my trusty sidekicks, Bob and Woody, along with a few at-risk teens from a rural area of Central Oregon. I'd like to pair each kiddo with an animal and, after the loss of my lovely Pablo last fall, I'm also thinking of getting another llama to live and work with my alpacas. Question is, where is the balance point between an animal that is interested in people and tolerant of touch in a healthy way, and one that is overly pushy? I've been working a bit with a llama born last summer, and he seems great in the sense of being pretty nonreactive and calm. On the other hand, when we were with him yesterday he was really doing his best to get in on the action when another animal was being worked with, which raises the question of how to tell when an animal is edging towards that area of concern. He did not seem to be aggressive, but he's not shy either! Any guidance would be much appreciated in terms of evaluating this! Thanks bunches, Paulette
