I have an adult male, about 11 years old, who is currently the alpha male. I had previously moved him and another alpha male to another farm without female alpacas, and he seemed to get along fine with the other male I moved there. They were previously mortal enemies in the presence of females. No females, good behavior. Well, I had to take them back after a year when the owner changed his plan and had the alpacas cohabitating with many emus, and he could not manage the situation.
Long story short, this alpha male named Murphy appears to be fixated on attacking the young boys in an adjacent pen. He paces back and forth all day and, a couple of times, has slipped through a gate opening as I was trying to do watering and attacked the crias. He is a bully and sadistic (my spin).

I do not have a facility solution. I will try to rehome him to a farm without females, which seems to switch off the alpha male behavior. However, I am wondering if gelding will provide an effective solution. Is this something I should pursue, or are there other solutions I should explore?
