Hi Marty and friends, I hope you can help me troubleshoot and find a way to work with two alpacas who walk very well once the halter is on, but hate the halter being put on. One of the boys spits when I show him the halter and try to put it on. He also bounces his head down and to the side to avoid it. The other boy turns his head away, avoiding the halter altogether. He also rears up when I approach the halter to his face. I use a catch pen, wands and the catch rope with them. Any tips on how I can change this unpleasant experience of hating the halter being put on to one where they accept it more willingly? Note: halters are well-adjusted (Zephyr ones) and I really don't know why they are so reactive to the haltering process.
