Hello Marty! Since we met, our alpacas are doing great. We have four alpacas and live in upstate NY. Right now, the group is frozen and there is no grass left for grazing. We are having the alpacas diet consist solely of hay and minerals free choice. When we spoke, you mentioned that we can let the boys work for the hay meaning if there is hay on the barn floor, they should work to have some (if I understand correctly). They seem to pick out what pieces they like and throw the rest on the ground. I'm wondering if we should keep refilling their hay bins for the hay that they most like so they graze the entire day, or if we are giving them fresh hay and gathering up the older hay on the ground in the morning and night, this is enough. Thank you!
