The idea of feeding a pellet feed seems to have lots of differing opinions as to the necessity as well as nutritional value.
For 6 years I used Southern States. The quality deteriorated to the point that I just had to switch. I could have Mazuri ordered at my local TSC so that's what I did. There has been more choking and the alpacas aren't as interested in eating it. So now what? I found out that TSC could also order Blue Seal so that's my newest attempt at a good feed for them. The ingredients indicate less soy but more corn than Mazuri. I'm just at a loss. I don't think there is another feed available in my area. I feed them about 1/2 cup twice a day; more because I feel better giving them something in addition to hay and pasture grass. What do others choose in this situation?
