After moving to Maine in November 2018 my wife met a family that had an Alpaca they could no longer care for. We really wanted to adopt him, but necessary repairs to our new-to-us house prevented us from having any time to do anything else. When possible I would go and feed the alpaca, make sure he had fresh water, and keep him company, but he really needed a better place to stay. At the end of May 2020 we were finally able to bring him home. I'm in contact with a few organizations in Maine and New England trying to find Lightning some companions. For now he enjoys spending time with my German Shepherd and I'm researching everything I can about caring for Lightning in a less traumatic way than I see in many youtube videos. Twenty five baby chicks are inbound and will be hopefully joining Lightning outside by October. Our dream of a small farm is slowly becoming a reality.
